About
Pat Sumner BA (Hons), Dip RSA, PGCE:
An experienced writer, editor and proofreader at ‘Cilan’, I enjoy helping others to develop and improve their writing and to prepare their copy for publication.
I also love to write myself and I have had three poetry collections, two plays, educational resources and many children’s stories published (please see my ‘Publications’ page for further details). I have won awards for some of my poems and plays.
An English Literature and Philosophy graduate, I previously worked as a teacher, specialising in English. These days, I teach creative writing to adults on a regular basis. As a children’s author, I also enjoy school visits and reading events, and running creative writing workshops.
I have taken part in the Llangollen Fringe Festival, the Curious Minds Literary Festival for children in Worcester, and various Ruthin Arts Network events.
§ Words can motivate and inspire us; they can change us from within. They’re not just symbols of communication; they’re images and ideas. They can conjure up cities, rivers and mountains, universes and atoms, triumphs, fears and dreams. And some words – perhaps the lines of a poem or speech – can stay with us forever. That’s the power of words.
